Gaynell "Gay" Melvin Slone, 91, of Paintsville, KY passed away July 26, 2015 at the Paul B. Hall Medical Center. She was born to the late Verlin and Mollie Turner Daniel on December 8, 1923. She is survived by 1 Son: Ernest James Webb; 3 Daughters: Dianna Scadden, Donna Tackett & Brenda Williams; 5 Grandchildren & 4 Great-Grandchildren Funeral Services will be held in the Paintsville Funeral Home Chapel, on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at 1:00PM. With Wes Stedtefeld officiating. Burial to follow in the Johnson County Memorial Cemetery, Staffordsville, KY Friends may call Tuesday, July 28, 2015 5-9pm at the Paintsville Funeral Home. Also Wednesday 9am until the time of service.
Judith Ann (Davis) Spradlin
Judith Ann (Davis) Spradlin, age 66, passed away on Monday, July 20th, at Pikeville Medical Center. Mrs. Spradlin was born March 16th, 1949 and is preceded in death by her parents, George and Bessie Murphy Davis of Brushy Creek, Pike County. Also preceding her in death are two sisters, Doris Davis and Mildred DeClerq and one brother, Lowell Davis. Surviving are her husband, Joseph Spradlin of Hager Hill; one sister, Edwena (Gary) Boyd; and brothers Aubrey “Pete” Davis, Bill “BJ” (Audrey) Davis of Pike County, and Charles Davis of Sterling Heights, Michigan. Mrs. Spradlin was a retired hairdresser of 43 years and owner of Judy's Beauty Salon in Paintsville, Ky. She was a member of the Rockhouse Freewill Baptist Church at Staffordsville, Ky. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 23rd, at 1:00 pm at the Rockhouse Freewill Baptist Church. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5 to 9 pm at the Paintsville Funeral Home and again on Thursday morning until time of service. Services will be conducted by Pastor Richard Williams, and Reverend Wendell Ison, with entombment to follow at the Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to the Rockhouse Freewill Baptist Church by contacting the Paintsville Funeral Home at 6067895125. Arrangements are under the direction of the Paintsville Funeral Home.
Vernon "Preacher" Wells
Vernon "Preacher" Wells, 78, died July 1, 2015 at the Riverview Health Care Center. He was born to the late William and Margery Preston Wells on April 12, 1937 in Van Lear, KY. He is survived by 1 Son: Jerry Wells; 2 Daughters: Lisa Williams Strickland and Amy Alsip; 4 Grandchildren and 3 Great-Grandchildren. Graveside Service will be held at the Sparks Cemetery, Blaine, KY on Monday, July 6, 2015 at 2:00PM.
Willa Mae (Johnson) Pennington
Willa Mae (Johnson) Pennington, age 74, died Tuesday. She was the daughter of the late Ottis and Louisa Holbrook. She was also preceded in death by her son Gerald Johnson. Surviving her are her sons: Joel (Debbie) Johnson and Kevin (Polly) Johnson, both of Flat Gap, Ky. Also surviving are 2 grandchildren: Melissa (Matt) Blankenship and Scott Johnson; 3 step grandchildren: Ralph (Tara) Whitaker, Angela Whitaker, and Veronica (Roland) Marcum; 2 great-grandchildren: Dylan and AJ Blankenship; as well as 5 step great-grandchildren: Rayanna Whitaker, Gabriel Whitaker, Trinity Grim, Jaden Marcum, Charity Marcum and Logan Bowling. She is also survived by a special friend, Bill Johnson. Funeral services will be held Friday 11 am in the Chapel of the Paintsville Funeral Home, with burial to follow in the Prater and Picklesimer Cemetery,at the mouth of Stone Coal, Flat Gap, KY. Visitation will be held at the Paintsville Funeral Home Thursday 3 until 9 pm.
Irene Scott age 91, died July 11, 2015. at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky. Born to Chris Lowe and Effie "Boggs" Lowe. She was Proceded in death by her Husband, Theodore Scott., JR. and one son John A. Scott. She is survived by her children, James Stephen (Margaret) Scott of Grason, Ky. Pastor J.M. (Anna) Scott of Paintsville, Ky. Suzanne Scott of Paintsville, Ky. and Terri Lynn (Phillip) Shaw, of Lexington, Ky. Also Surviving are 7 Grandchildren and 11, Great-Grandchildren. Funeral Service will be held at the Highland Church of Christ, Paintsville Ky. On Monday, July 13, 2015 at 11 A.M.. Officiating Minister Jerry Scott. Friends may call Sunday 3 to 9 P.M. at the Paintsville Funeral Home. Friends may call at the Highland Church of Christ on Monday at 9 AM. untill time of Funeral at 11 AM. Burial will follow, at Highland Memorial Park, Staffordsville, Kentucky. Michael Ray Stapleton, 56, husband of Lisa Carol Conley Stapleton, died July 3, 2015 at the Paul B Hall Medical Center after an extended illness. He was born to the late Tobe and Norsie Williams Stapleton on August 16, 1958 in Paintsville, KY. Including his wife he is also survived by 1 Daughter: Megan Rae Stapleton; 1Step-Daughter: Brittany Jo Wells; 3 Sisters: Linda Lee (David) Binghan, Tobianna (Danny) McCarty & Virginia (James) Meadows; 1Grandson: Rylan Blair. Funeral Service will be held in the Paintsville Fuenral Home Chapel on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at 11:00AM. with Rev. Bruce Aaron Davis and Rev. Joe Scott officiating.
