FEBRUARY OBITUARIES 2020

Anne Butcher 

Elizabeth Anne (Anne) Butcher of Wittensville passed away on February 6, 2020 at Paul B. Hall Medical Center. She was born in Johnson County to Jack and Pauline Trimble Tackett.  Anne was a long time tax preparer at Tax Depot in Paintsville. She was a member of the Staffordsville Freewill Baptist Church. On September 19, 1967 she was united in marriage to Larry Butcher. They were married for 52 years.

Anne is preceded in death by her father Jack Tackett ; a daughter Angelique(Angel) B utcher;  a sister Robbyn Caldwell; a brother Billy Tackett; and a brother in law Calvin Reed.  She is survived by her loving husband Larry Butcher of Wittensville; her mother Pauline Tackett of Paintsville; two daughters Melissa Butcher and Tara (Shane) Rowland both of Wittensville; two sisters Brenda (Buster) Stafford of West Virginia and Pamela Reed of Ashland;  a grandson Mason McCoart of Lexington ; two granddaughters Taylor and Shelby Rowland of Wittensville; and a sister in law Ashley Tackett of Pikeville.

Friends may call at the Paintsville Funeral home on Saturday February 8 from 5:00 pm until 9:00 and on Sunday February 9 from 9:00 am until time of the service.  Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday February 9 at 1:00 pm in the Paintsville Funeral Home Chapel. Harry Frisby will officiate. Burial will immediately follow at the  Highland Memorial Cemetery at Staffordsville

Mary Wandalee Auxier Colvin

Mary Wandalee Auxier Colvin passed away on February 26, 2020 at the age of 97. Wanda was born June 13, 1922 in Humbolt, Nebraska to Earl and Bess Auxier. She married Bert J. Colvin on October 2, 1942. They had 2 sons, Emery Gayle and Jerald Lee. Wanda and Bert lived and raised their family in Prestonsburg, Kentucky where Wanda was a member of Irene Cole Memorial Baptist Church in Prestonsburg, Kentucky. She later moved to Campbellsville, Kentucky where she was a member of Saint Mark Methodist Church. Wanda proudest achievement was leaving a testimony for the lord, she was a devoted Christian for her whole life and live by faith. She had three brothers, Emery Auxier, Robert Auxier and David Auxier and two sisters Opal Johnson and Muriel Taylor.

Wanda is preceded in death by both of her parents Earl and Bess Auxier. Husband Bert Colvin who passed away on January 4, 1992 after 50 wonderful years together. One stepson, Roger Colvin who passed away on February 7, 1981. Two sisters Opal Johnson and Muriel Taylor and one brother Emery Auxier preceded her in death also.

She is survived by her two sons, Emery Gayle of Ocala, Florida and Jerald Lee of Louisville, Kentucky; two brothers, Robert Auxier and David Auxier; one grandson, Jeremy Colvin, two granddaughters, Joy Colvin Kemelgor and Carla Colvin. Also surviving are three step granddaughters, Elizabeth Ann Adams, Cathy Richey, and Judith Tuttle.; three great grandchildren, EmmaLee Kidwell, Wyatt Colvin, and Jonas Colvin. Also surviving is many loving nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Sunday March 1, 2020 at the Paintsville Funeral Home Chapel from 1:00pm – 2:00pm. Funeral service will be held same day March 1, 2020 at Paintsville Funeral Chapel starting at 2:00 PM with Seth Carter officiating. Followed by interment in the Colvin Family Cemetery at Oil Springs, Kentucky.

John Cantrell 

John Authony Cantrell age 57 of Auxier, Ky passed away on February 10, 2020 at the Hazard ARH Medical Center.

John was born on June 19, 1962 to Levi and Cora Lee Blair Cantrell in Johnson County. He was employed by Siemens Services as an Industrial Mechanic.

He is preceded in death by both of his parents Levi and Cora Lee Blair Cantrell and brother Ira Scott Cantrell.

John is survived by his longtime partner Darlene Mollette of Auxier, KY; one brother William “Jay” (Elzie) Cantrell of Van Lear, KY; three sisters Rose Mary Cantrell Chase of Gahanna, Ohio, Iresha Carol Fyffe of West Milton, Ohio and Jerri Marleen Byron Reynoldsburg, Ohio.

A memorial service will be held at a later date and will be announced later by the Paintsville Funeral Home.

Troy Burchett 

Troy Burchett age 69, of Wittensville passed away on February 13, 2020 at Kings Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky. He was born in Johnson County on September 1, 1950 to Darrell and Osa Howard Burchett. Troy was a retired Foreman with CSX Railroad, a US Army Veteran and a Christian who loved the Lord. He was an avid University of Kentucky Sports fan and loved to watch the Cincinnati Reds. He also loved to garden with his friend Greg Meadows and gather with his group of CSX retired buddies to enjoy a meal together.

Troy is preceded in death by his parents Darrell and Osa Burchett. He is survived by two sisters Carol Webb of Rush, Ky and Darlene Burchett of Kenova, West Virginia; two nieces Tonya (Greg) Hunter of Boyd County and Tammy (Mark) Runyon of Fairfield , Ohio; three great nieces Courtney Runyon, Allyson Runyon, Katie (Lee) Hanners; one great nephew Austin Hunter; one great great niece Madilyn Hanners and a host of friends and neighbors.

Friends may call at the Paintsville Funeral Home on Sunday February 16 at 12:00pm until time of the service at 1:00 pm at the Paintsville Funeral Home Chapel. Stephen Howard will officiate. Burial will immediately follow in the Johnson County Memorial Cemetery at Staffordsville.

The family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation to the Paul B Hall Medical Center ER Staff, the Paintsville Fire and Rescue Department and the Kings Daughter Medical Center ICU Staff for their kindness and excellent care of Troy during his brief illness.

Harmon Eugene (Doc) Wireman

Harmon Eugene (Doc) Wireman age 88 of Dry Branch in Oil Springs, Ky passed away on February 28, 2020.  He was born in 1931 to Luster and Pearl Conley Wireman in Johnson County. Doc worked in the Oil fields and spent  a lot of time gardening.

In addition to his parents Doc is preceded in death by his wife Hope Blanton Wireman and a brother Edgar Wireman.  He is survived two sisters Mary Blanton of Volga, Ky and Teenie (Jack) Preston of Paintsville; a sister in law Josephine Wireman of Paintsville; one niece Diane Blanton of Volga, nephews Ronald Preston of Paintsville, Jack Wireman of Lexington, Jimmy Blanton of Columbus and Donald Blanton of Lexington; three great nieces ; two great nephews and two great great nephews; and a host of friends and neighbors.

A memorial service will be held at a later date and will be announced later by the Paintsville Funeral Home.
