Wilma Spradlin Hannah
Wilma Hannah died in Palmetto, FL on April 1, 2017. She was born in Johnson County, KY in 1935 and was the daughter of Shay Spradlin and Jewell Tackett Spradlin McKenzie. She attended Oil Springs High School where she graduated with honors at the age of 16. She graduated from Mayo Technical College at Paintsville, KY with a degree in Cosmetology. She opened her first beauty shop at the age of 18 in Piketon, OH. Wilma had the entrepreneurial spirit and owned numerous businesses over the years, as well as selling Mary Kay, New You Cosmetics, and Sloppy Joe clothing. She owned a ladies clothing store in the sixties and had several beauty shops throughout the years including Body Works Beauty Shop still in operation in Piketon today.
Wilma worked in Toledo, OH as the Dean of Warner's Beauty College and attended numerous styling classes including Robert Franc's school of Advanced Hair Styling in Columbus, OH. She was a life-long learner and attended a variety of college classes throughout most of her life. She was a cosmetology
teacher at Pike County Joint Vocational School from 1961-1978. She taught cosmetology at Pickaway Ross Joint Vocational School from 1978 until she retired in 1980. Several students have said she made learning interesting and fun.
Wilma had an eye for architecture and renovated several dilapidated structures into apartments, doing much of the work herself. She ran her rental business primarily by herself until her death. She was an independent, strong, hard working woman. Wilma spoke her mind and told you what she thought. Someone said to me that you always knew where you stood with Wilma, if you treated her right she would treat you right; and if you backed her in a corner she would come out swinging.
Wilma was married to James R. Conaway from 1957-1963, and they had two daughters. Wilma is survived by her daughter Rhonda Conaway Taylor and husband Henry Taylor, their children Michael M Taylor and Jenny Taylor Williams with husband Eric Williams; and daughter Angel Conaway and Chuck Ware; and numerous friends and relatives. Wilma was also married to Ronnie Hannah, deceased, from 1974 through 1978.
Wilma will be buried at Highland Cemetery Park, Staffordsville, Ky beside her mother and father. Funeral service will be Friday 2p.m. In the Chapel of Paintsville Funeral Home. Visitation will be at the Paintsville Funeral Home Friday 12p.m. Arrangement are by the Paintsville Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held locally at the Calvary Baptist Church in Piketon, OH in the near future. The details will be announced at a later date
Emily Rose Hall
Emily Rose Hall age 63, died April 7, 2017 at her home located in Paintsville, Ky. She is proceeded in death by father Noah Myers Shannon and Mother Missouri "Baker" Shannon, and her husband Bennie Hall. She is survived by 1 Son; Benjamin Eric Hall (Sonia) 1 Daughter; Tammy "Hall" Snyder (Rick), 2 Brothers; Charles Shannon, and Paul Shannon, 3 Sisters; Phyllis Hall, Brenda Moore, and Kitty Finnegan; 8 Grandchildren Joshua, Nick, Eric, Erica, Victoria, Alexandra, Dylan, and Olivia; 3 Great Grandchildren Jaxson, Aiden and Athena. She also leaves behind her loving companion Dean. There will be a private graveside service held on Monday April 10, 2017. Arrangements under the direction of the Paintsville Funeral Home
Stella Jean Williams age 80 of Nicholasville, Ky (formly of Johnson County) died April 19, 2017.
She is proceeded in death by her husband Lloyd Williams; two sons Gregory Ward and Burl Richard; three brothers Elijah Stanaford Jr. and Chester Stanaford and Frank Stanaford; two sisters Lydia Walters and Reva Pansing.
She survived by one son Gordon (Carrie) Williamson of Lexington Ky; one daugther Palma Ward Chapman of Nicholasville Ky; six grandchilden and eigth great grandchilden.
Visitation will be held Sunday April 23,2017 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm
at Paintsville Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service with be held Monday April 24,2017 at 11:00am in the Paintsville Funeral Home Chapel with Burial to follow in Wilson Cemetery in Boonescamp Ky. Funeral Arrangements under the direction of the Paintsville Funeral Home.
