    Obituaries 

    John Leslie Jones age 60 of of Flat Gap, died March 1, 2017, he is survived by his mother Betty "Stapleton" Jones, 1 son - John Jones II of Lexington Ky, 2 brothers - Robert Lee Jones of Ulyssis, Ky., and Billy Eugene Jones of Pensacola, FL., 1 Sister - Elizabeth Caudill (William) of Nicholasville, Ky.

    Visitation will be held 6 to 9pm Friday March 3, 2017 at the Paintsville Funeral Home. Funeral will be held Saturday 11 AM. in the chapel of the Paintsville Funeral Home with burial to follow at the Highland Memorial Park cemetery located at Staffordsville, Ky. Funeral Directions are under the direction of the Paintsville Funeral Home.

    John Leslie Jones

    Ann K. Trimble, born April 11, 1929. Went to be with the Lord on March 10, 2017 at her home in Tutor Key. Ann was the daughter of the late Irvin and Minnie Daniels.

    She was proceeded in death by her husband, Chester Trimble of 60 plus years, one brother Bobby Daniels and one sister Herma Lee Church.

    She is survived by one daughter Marlene Sue Eikens of Sarasota, FL, one grandson Chris L. Burke of Staffordsville, KY and 2 great grand kids. Also surviving are 2 sisters Edna Daniels of Mineral, VA and Teresa Meade of Tutor Key, KY.

    She was a faithful attendant of the Light of Christ Church of Staffordsville and The First United Methodist Church of Paintsville.

    Ann was respected and loved by all.

    Vistitation will be Monday March 13, 2017 from 2-9pm at the Paintsville Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday March 14, 2017 at 11am in the Paintsville Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at the Trimble Family Cemetery located at 4260 US HWY 460 Staffordsville, KY also known as Lee's Trailer Court.

    Glennis W. Blair

    Glennis W. Blair age 74 of Thelma KY, died Saturday March 11, 2017. He is survived by one brother Howard Blair (Shirley) of Urbana OH; one sister Linda Newberry of Mt. Sterling KY.

    Visitation will be held Wednesday March 15 from 11am to 1pm. Funeral services at 1pm in the Paintsville Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Blair Family Cemetery in Oil Springs KY. Funeral service under the direction of the Paintsville Funeral Home.

    Beatrice Marie Davis Borders
    Born: October 18, 1925 Died: March 22, 2017


    Beatrice Marie Davis Borders was born to George Davis Sr., and Verlie Fitzpatrick of Meally, Kentucky. She was named after Dr. Lyon's daughter Beatrice and was born in Van Lear, where she attended the Buffalo Elementary and Buffalo Grade School. She graduated from Meade Memorial High School in 1943, then obtained a business degree from Mayo in 1946. She worked as a Secretary and Bookeeper at the Paintsville Hospital, and clerked at the Big Sandy Drug Store. Bea married Kenneth Borders on December 24, 1946, and the couple shared 57 years together and enjoyed summer trips to Daytona Beach, FL. Bea and Ken were baptized together as members of the First Baptist Church of Paintsville. Bea worked in the Sheriff's Office in 1950 and Citizen's Bank in 1958, they setup residence on Washington Avenue in Paintsville. Bea began working at the ASCS Office for the Department of Agriculture from 1972-1977 until her mother passed.
    Bea's interests include politics, reading, crochet and sewing, cooking, and gardening. She possessed a keen mind and could recollect historic details particularly about Kentucky, and family genealogy.


    Bea is survived by her sisters Betty Davis Rice and Christina Davis of Paintsville and George Davis, Jr. of Ashland, Kentucky. Preceding her in death are her parents George Davis Sr., and Verlie Fitzpatrick, brothers Harold L. Davis and Howard Davis, and Nephew Bobby Rice II. Bea was loved by many nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews including: Keith Rice, Robin L Davis, Dee Dee Davis Goble, Bettina Rice, Gina Davis Wireman, Judge George Davis III, and Nikki Davis Hall. She was particularly fond of her sister Betty's children who lived close by, and Great Nephew Matthew Rice Ensor of Lexington, and Great Niece Olivia Davis of Ashland

    Visitation will be held Friday from 6pm to 9pm at the Paintsville Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held Saturday at 2pm at the First Baptist Church of Paintsville with burial to follow in Johnson County Memorial Cemetery. Under the direction of the Paintsville Funeral Home.

    Beatrice "Davis" Borders

    Nancy McKenzie age 67 of Johnson County, died March 24, 2017. She is survived by one son James McKenzie of Keaton KY; one brother David Hill of Flatwoods KY; two sisters Bonnie Definbaugh of Grayson KY and Christina Mullins of Morehead KY.

    Visitation will be held Sunday March 26 from 5pm to 9pm and Monday March 27 from 5pm to 9pm. Funeral service will be held Tuesday March 28 at 11am in Paintsville Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Patty Flat Cemetery in Flat Gap KY. Under the direction of the Paintsville Funeral Home.

    Nancy McKenzie

    Mary Cantrell age 80 of Oil Springs KY, died March 28, 2017. She is survived by 3 brothers Larry Baldwin of Oil Springs KY; Lowel Baldwin of Barnetts Creek KY; Johnny Baldwin of Pigeon Creek KY; one sister Dora Meade of Oil Springs KY; one grandson David Keith Cantrell II of Oil Springs KY.

    Visitations will be held Wednesday from 6pm to 10pm and Thursday from 1pm to 10pm at the Paintsville Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service will be held Friday at 1pm in the Paintsville Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Johnson County Memorial Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Paintsville Funeral Home.

    Mary Cantrell

    Jewell Salyers, 69, of Paintsville, passed away Thursday, March 30th, 2017 at her home after a battle with cancer. Jewell was born on April 11th, 1947 to the late Eugene and Erie Fairchild. She was preceded in death by her son; Gene Salyers, five brothers and two sisters. She is survived by two sons; Robert Salyers of Columbus, Ohio, and Charles Mollette, Jr. of Van Lear, Kentucky, one Daughter; Lisa Hinkle of Inez, Kentucky, one sister; Loretta Holden of Shepherdsville, Kentucky, one brother; Denzel “Shorty” Fairchild of Oil Springs, eight grandchildren; Danielle, Brittani, Kennedi, Gene Junior, Brice, Emily, Nathaniel and Lexi, three great grandchildren; Felicity, Ali, and Amelia and one beloved Pomeranian, Annabelle.

    Jewell enjoyed fishing, gardening, spending time with her family, and an occasional glass of wine (for her heart health, of course). She was known for her fierce loyalty to her family, her blunt honesty, and an amazing sense of humor. Jewell will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

    Memorial services will be held on Friday, March 31st and are immediate family only. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
